Domestic pepper price
Today's pepper price was updated at 4:30 a.m. on May 21, 2025 as follows, the domestic market continued to stabilize at a high level and remained unchanged compared to the previous trading session. Currently, the average pepper purchase price in key areas is 151,600 VND/kg.
Specifically, today's pepper price in Gia Lai province continued to stabilize compared to yesterday's slight decrease, currently the pepper purchase price in this locality is at 150,000 VND/kg.
Pepper prices in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Phuoc fluctuated little, with a stable trend compared to yesterday, currently the pepper purchase price purchased by traders in the two localities is 151,000 VND/kg.
Pepper prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong are stable compared to the previous slight increase. Currently, traders are purchasing pepper in these two localities at 153,000 VND/kg.
According to experts, domestic purchasing power is still weak, along with farmers' "hoarding" mentality and traders' caution, making it difficult for domestic prices to increase significantly. Some forecasts suggest that prices will only fluctuate slightly within the range of 150,000 - 152,000 VND/kg in the short term, but the prospects for medium and long-term recovery still show positive signs.
Notably, China - a market that had stagnated - has started buying again, although the volume is still limited. According to forecasts, pepper exports in the second quarter and in the coming time will face many difficulties due to financial pressure on exporters and importers.
It is forecasted that from now until the end of the year, the supply and demand factors will continue to play a key role in regulating the market. In fact, the global pepper supply is still in short supply, which is expected to be a positive signal to help pepper prices not drop too low in the medium and long term.
In the context of competitors to Vietnamese pepper, Indonesia is striving to consolidate its position as the world's leading spice producer, with the government constantly promoting the targeted development of key crops such as pepper. In 2025, the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture has identified pepper as the main focus of its spice growing area development program.
