Domestic pepper prices
In the domestic market, pepper prices today did not change much compared to yesterday. Although pressure from investment capital flows is shifting towards the coffee industry, the pepper market still maintains stability thanks to positive demand from the US.
The US continues to be Vietnam's largest pepper export market, with purchasing power increasing sharply in the last months of the year. Falling inflation and loose monetary policy in the US have boosted import demand, while importers are taking advantage of the economic instability following the presidential election.
Thanks to that, domestic pepper prices remained stable around the threshold of 145,000 - 146,200 VND/kg. According to experts, this trend will continue, especially in the context that supply from other large producing countries such as Brazil is limited due to high prices and sharp increases in transportation costs.
Vietnam is not only the world's largest pepper exporter but also the leading consumption market for producing countries in Southeast Asia. In 2024, pepper imports from Indonesia to Vietnam have increased by more than 347%, reaching 13,409 tons, accounting for 30.2% of Indonesia's total pepper exports.
Despite pressure from increased production and transportation costs, the pepper market still maintains stability thanks to strong demand from major markets, especially the US. Vietnam continues to maintain its position as a global pepper supply center, while boosting exports thanks to favorable trade conditions.
